About Organisation

The Divya Jyothi Charitable Trust was established on December 01, 2008 by four likeminded individuals who today are the trustees of the organization. The Managing Trustee is Shivaprakash M.A, He has completed his post-graduation in Political Science and is now pursuing a doctorate. He is currently working with the Indian Post Office as a Postal Assistant. The other three Trustees are Srishaila L. (LLM), Lokesh S and Dhananjaya S. The organization is of blind people and for blind people.

For the blind and partially sighted, our trust Aims to:

  • Impart education across fields of study
  • Provide support, care, advice and social opportunities to preserve dignity and enhance independence and quality of life.
  • Provide access to Braille aids and appliances
  • Provide access to a library for the visually challenged
  • Promote awareness and support, including advocacy measures to support policy making at the Governance level
  • Support overseas research to advance in the field of vision health
  • Provide financial assistance in case of need
  • Provide affordable accommodation in case of need
  • Co-operate with social bodies interested in helping and preventing blindness and/or assisting the visually impaired persons to give the best possible output

    Assistance provided: Contributes to the development of science and practice of disability education in India, has experience with schools for the blind since childhood, volunteer, organizes education, sports and reading programs

    Background: Retired as Head Mistress of JSS High School, Mysore Active Social worker Been on the Advisory Board since the inception of DivyaJyothi
    Assistance provided: Education programs for visually impaired, creates awareness and fund raising.
  • Kamal Karthik
    Background: Marketing Director, Hegade Ayurvedic
    Assistance provided: Provides connection with volunteers, creating awareness among people through advertising and posting updates on social sites, fund raising, organizing education programs and in providing food for the school.
  • Ashish Mehta
    Background: Senior Project Manager with Infosys Limited He has 11+ years of experience in IT industry with 8 years based out of US and Canada He has lead several CSR initiatives across different organizations starting from fund raising through self-sustaining implementations.
    Assistance provided: Advisory assistance on improving operations, provides volunteer support.

Mission statement

We at the trust seek to empower the visually impaired so that they lead a life of dignity and independence. Blindness mustn't be seen as a sign of weakness rather it is a latent form of strength and energy that can be awakened. Through its service, the trust will give wings to the dreams of every blind person.
